A Bottom-Up Approach for Employee Wellbeing

Our founder Mara Alves has been recently interviewed by the National media company, Business Leader. Exploring the challenges of setting up a business in a foreign country, the inspiration for starting Nova, and her refreshing approach to running a business built on honesty, integrity, and respect.

When James Cook asked Mara how important those values were, Mara’s response was simple…

“Those three are the most important whilst running a business. Always being open and honest when approaching a client and having an open book policy is where we add value.

We always work with good principles and integrity to build a long-lasting business, and respect is important to us – both in that we respect the industry and its people, particularly our staff.

I feel very blessed to have started from the bottom. It means I know just how much respect my staff deserve – they are the ones representing Nova on a daily basis, providing the service which moves us from the bottom up, so we very much appreciate what they do for us.”

Alongside current trends for commercial cleaning, Mara tells Business Leader that employee care is key. Employees are the people clients see day in and day out, and high employee well-being reflects well on the business.

A management approach that champions the well-being of the member of staff and leads with a bottom–up mentality is surely the future for any business, no matter what the industry.

For our industry, it’s a no-brainer, we will continue to fly the flag for mindful leadership and fairness all the way.
